Paintings at St. Joseph Church in Lowell, MA
After a fire in this church, three paintings were in need of cleaning. Each painting required a different cleaning technique. -
Award Winning First Churches Restoration, Northampton, MA
The restoration process of First Churches involved uncovering four layers of renovations to find the original colors, styles, and a stencil border. The border was recreated all around the walls of the church. Two golden carved medallions rested on the walls and had to be re-touched and gold leafed, with missing parts completed. -

Antique Persian Mirror, Lacker on wood
This hand painted antique Persian Mirror fell and broke in pieces. Some of them got lost and had to be recreated to match the style and the aged texture. After stabilizing the structural integrity, the design was handpainted and antiqued. -
Picture Frame
This frame was damaged and missing many parts. The restoration process included stabilizing, reproducing and placing the missing parts and final touch ups. -
Beach, Oil on paper, mounted on canvas
This painting was exposed to moisture and mechnical damage. The paper partially separated from the canvas and had to be removed from the old canvas and consolidated by attaching it to a new canvas. After the painting and the paper were stabilized, the painting was cleaned, touched up and attached to the original canvas. -
Luther and Melanchton, Oil on wooden panel, 1886
This painting was exposed to extreme heat(fire damage). The boards of the panel started to shrink and the paint layers cracked and peeled in the seams between the boards. In previous attempts to save the painting, retouches have been made in many areas, however, the painting was not stabilized and properly cleaned. The restoration process included stabilizing the panel and the paint layer, removing old touch ups, cleaning and retouching, and adding a final protective varnish. -
Mr. Higgins Portrait, Oil on Canvas,
This painting was mechanically damaged and also exposed to years of smoke in the tavern of Northampton Hotel. It was covered with tar and in need of cleaning and repair.
